Prepare the Cotton

Our cotton comes from South India and before its printed is thoroughly washed to remove starch and oils, allowing the fibres to fully receive the pigment.

Hand Block Print

Using hand-carved wooden blocks, artisans print each colour by hand. Every layer of the design requires a different block, applied slowly, one impression at a time. The print often comes alive only with the final block, when the full pattern is revealed.

Sun-Dry & Cure

The printed fabric is laid in the sun to dry and naturally cure, helping the pigment bond to the cotton.

Wash & Soften

The fabric is gently washed to remove excess pigment and reveal its final tone and soft hand feel.

Cut & Make

The fabric is hung to dry and inspected, the fabric is then cut and sewn into finished garments.

From cloth to garment, the process takes around two weeks, guided by hand, sun, and time resulting in prints that are perfectly imperfect and uniquely alive.
