SZ Blockprints is committed to giving back to the local community in Jaipur where our beautiful pieces are lovingly crafted. Your purchases will support initiatives chosen by the SZ team to educate and empower girls and women in India.
We are excited to announce our first partnership with the Helping Hands Society, a charitable organisation set up in 2004 with the aim of alleviating poverty in the Kathputli Slum. Situated in the heart of Jaipur, the Kathputli Slum is one of the most densely populated areas in the City and home to over 13,000 people. Kathputli is mainly inhabited by street sweepers, rag-pickers, artisans and general labourers, who have migrated from rural areas in the hope of better jobs, higher pay, modern housing and improving the lives of their families. Helping Hands work directly with the community providing free education to over 470 children, vocational training in their sewing unit and have installed communal toilet blocks and water taps in every home.
At SZ Blockprints, we have donated our excess fabric to the sewing unit at Helping Hands who have beautifully crafted five unique bandanas which are now available for sale here. All proceeds from the sales will be given to Helping Hands to further support and grow their vocational sewing programme.
