Resort 22: Spotlight on Print

Our newest print "Phool Me Hawa" - meaning wind in the flowers.

It takes three wooden blocks to create the print. The intricacies carved into the wood allow for the delicate precision of each layer.

Block printing is a time intensive process made up of layering wooden blocks dipped in dye onto cotton. Each print is composed of numerous different blocks which fit together like a puzzle, each with a different purpose in the print. The "Rekh" block is used for the outline of the design, the"Gad" is used as the background design and the "Datta" is accent or background filler.
